Generator Projects Micro-Residency

Generator Projects is a dynamic, vibrant exhibition and events space in Dundee, Scotland. Founded in 1996, more than 25 years later Generator still operates in the tradition of Artist Run Initiatives: non-profit, collaborative, grassroots, membership-based spaces that exist to foster and sustain creativity and participation in the arts. These peer-led spaces play a pivotal role in the arts ecosystem, and in engaging local communities. Generator is the second-oldest artist-run space in Scotland, and the oldest in Dundee.

Generator Projects offered artists, writers & makers based in and around Dundee the opportunity to engage in their new micro-residency project.

This was a fee-free residency providing access to a shared studio space in Wasps Meadow Mill, with full access to the building, its wifi and heating—as well as a desk to work at and a communal supply of art materials.

The project was for individuals who would benefit from a studio space for four weeks to develop their practice or work on a specific project.

Residents would work alongside current committee members in the space and be offered some support.

From Generator Projects

Sixto-Juan Zavala was the second creative in our micro residency programme and we couldn’t of been happier to have them.

Sixto-Juan used their time on the residency to focus on an idea they have had for a while, based on their previous and ongoing Queer Botany research…

Thanks to everyone at Generator Projects for all the support, energy, and assistance they all gave for this micro-residency. All their efforts to help foster a vibrant creative community in Dundee is highly appreciated!
